CalArts Halloween 2023:
Ethereal Convergence

 Lead Scenic Designer, Bar Room

 CalArts Drag Ball April 2023

For the 2023 CalArts Drag Ball, I was a lead scenic designer on one of the main event spaces The idea for the event was that drag wrestlers had taken over and repurposed an old wrestling gym, and are holding a WWE-esque event/party. This rendering showcases the concept for a seating/bar area, which is a set of repurposed lockers complete with a glowing sign and LED tape to fit the aesthetic of the rest of the party.

CalArts Halloween  2022: The Monster Mash, Scenic Design

For the CalArts Halloween Party in 2023, the theme was the monster mash, and the event was infused with creatures and haunted elements throughout every area. I was the lead scenic designer on the entrance hallway, and the idea was to create a haunted forest leading to the party. Through many iterations and hurdles, we ended up at the design shown through creative problem solving and design choices. I also assisted with the overall build, including the main stage shown, and engaged in creative discussions regarding the storyline and overall feel.

On this project, my assistant scenic designer was Nicholas Sasano.

 Tsipekua 2022
Scenic Design

Tsipekua was an immersive Día De Los Muertos celebration held on the CalArts campus in 2022. It was comprised of an immersive theater performance, installations, and experiences, over a week long period. For this event, I designed and constructed one of the tombstones for the graveyard that the immersive performance took place in. The piece serves as both an installation and a set piece,  and was up for the duration of the event, coming to life at night with candles and props for the actors. The stone is based on a character who lived through the Mexican Revolution, and has come back to tell their story in the celebration of life that is Día De Los Muertos

CalArts Halloween 2021: RetroRave, Scenic Design

For the CalArts Halloween party in 2021, I co-designed the entrance arch for the event. My co- designer Maci and I worked to create the illusion of a large computer screen as the entrance to the retrowave themed party. While there were several hurdles to the final design, and a time-crunch, our process was an engaging and creative endeavor. Much of that process is shown here, along with some sketches of a space I never got to work on, and the whole event.
